VÉRONIQUE
Be transported by the sea breeze and sonic alchemy as musical virtuoso Véronique sweeps the strings with a shimmering solo performance on electric violin.
Blending loops, delays, reverbs and voice to weave a rich tapestry of sound, Véronique creates an ethereal world with her six-string violin and invites us in. We loved her in The Spirit of Churaki in 2018, and we’re thrilled to welcome her back to perform original compositions and pieces from her new album, A Stolen Satellite, at this year’s Festival. Lose yourself to the soundscape and be spellbound by this extraordinary Australian violinist.
“WHAT MARKS HER OUT FROM MOST OF THE NATION’S OTHER LEADING VIOLINISTS IS HER EXTRAORDINARY VERSATILITY, DRIVEN BY A RESTLESSNESS AND AN UNWILLINGNESS TO RESTRICT HERSELF TO ANY ONE GENRE”
– Sydney Morning Herald
Véronique is a super versatile violinist who is carving a niche for herself leading string sections for rock bands, collaborating with indigenous artists, recording film scores and improvisation- her own compositions blending voice, violins and electronics. She is known for her willingness to experiment and her work on 6 string electric violin.
