Witness the magic of performance in progress when theatre maker, writer and director Lisa Smith takes up residency at BLEACH*.

Through a series of tasks, questions and reflections on the nature of legacy and connection, this explorative theatre making process is a moving meditation on grief and loss – the things we gather, the things we treasure, and the things we leave behind.

Passionate about storytelling and with a deep sense of curiosity, watch as Lisa responds to the provocation to create a new work within the three-week period. Immersed in process and guided by compassion, Lisa’s keen to explore what binds us together through a practice that sits between traditional and modern performing arts, seen through a feminist lens. Experience the journey from production to performance when the work premieres in the second week of the Festival.

A Heart Stops Beating

A HEART STOPS BEATING is an immersive experience that interweaves story, memory and numbers in a Bingo Game with a difference.

Join theatre maker Lisa Smith as she hosts an intimate game of Bingo, muses on the dangers of google, and explores the unexpected complexities and absurdities of a world seen through the eyes of the grieving.

Thursday 18 – Sunday 21 August

6.00pm and 8.00pm

Location – North Burleigh Hub

Lisa is a theatre maker, writer and director whose work explores the intersections and tensions between traditional and modern performing arts practices as seen through a feminist lens. Lisa’s practice is guided by a strong sense of curiosity and a deep desire to allow empathy, compassion and gentleness to have a central space in the making of new work, both independently and with her collaborators. She has a passion for storytelling in all its forms and is keen to further explore the experiences and emotions that bind us to each other as human beings. She is excited by the provocation and opportunity to immerse in the making process of a new work as part of Bleach* Festival 2022.
