Revel in the rich sounds of the Southern Cross Soloists as they fill the Botanic Gardens with a specially curated program of songs for the season. The concert highlights the works of Australia’s finest female composer, Elena Kats-Chernin who has been dubbed Australia’s answer to Mozart.

Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University is one of the most comprehensive tertiary music schools in Australia. Our breadth of specialist degrees encompasses pre-tertiary, undergraduate, postgraduate and research programs taught by world-renowned performers and teachers. Each year we hold over 250 performances featuring classical, jazz, musical theatre, opera, new music, popular music, alumni, visiting artists and more. Conservatorium students benefit from strong industry partnerships with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Opera Queensland, Queensland Ballet, QPAC and many more, such as this side-by-side opportunity with Southern Cross Soloists at the BLEACH* 2020.

WHERE

Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens, 230 Ashmore Rd, Benowa

Located close to the children’s playground area and will be clearly signed and there will be event staff on site to direct you.

The Gardens are located off Ashmore Road, Benowa, opposite Benowa State High School. The south-west boundary of the park extends down to the Nerang River. The Royal Pines Resort Golf Course runs all along the northern boundary and the Benowa Waters residential area is located to the south.

PARKING

There is ample festival parking which is located about 30 metres walking distance from the event.

The designated parking area will be well signed with Festival Event Staff. Traffic management will be onsite to direct all festival patrons.

If travelling by public transport, Translink’s journey planner can help you with your trip.

WHAT TO BRING

Please bring a lovely afternoon picnic to enjoy on the grass. Bring Low Beach Chairs or a picnic rug for your seating enjoyment.

You are more than welcome to bring your own food and drink when you come for a day out at the precinct. BYO Alcohol is NOT permitted. Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and your refillable drinking bottle or an unopened water bottle. Comfortable and cool clothing.

Beverages will be available at our Bleach* Bar area.

The event will be licensed with our lovely beverage partners Beers by Burleigh Brewing, Gin cocktails by Grandad Jacks and Wine by Witches Falls.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING

Please do not bring glass, alcohol or any liquid in a container that has already been opened including reusable drink bottles. These items will be confiscated by security staff upon your entry to the ticketed area.

No large oversized chairs, reclining chairs, air beds and deck chairs.

No glass – this includes drinking glasses, jars, or any other containers or items made of glass.

No metal cutlery or knives of any sort are permitted into the Venue.

No beanbags, blow-up air chairs or lounges.

No quick shades but small umbrellas are allowed.

All tickets are General Admission no seating is available onsite.  There will be circles marked on the grass to assist with physical distancing. Please follow the directions of our friendly Front of House staff.

Bleach* is an all weather event and the venue is outdoors and open air. If the performance has to be postponed or cancelled due to unsafe weather ticket buyers will be notified via email, text message and messaging online through our socials.

This year’s Festival is unashamedly local, from our artists to our partners and to you our audience. It’s further evidence that this City is busting at the seams with local talent and ready to soar.

Just like being at a good friends’ place for a dinner party, BLEACH* 2020 is your host for 11 days and invites you to experience your City through stories and images connected to this place.

Southern Cross Soloists (SXS) is synonymous with excellence, delivering quality music-making both in Australia and internationally. Over the past 25 years, SXS has established itself as one of Australia’s pre-eminent chamber music ensembles. Comprised of leading soloists from across Australia, SXS creates and performs dynamic, unique and world-class musical experiences for audiences of all ages. SXS annually employs over 85 artists and art workers, mentors the next generation of performers and offers participation opportunities across a broad spectrum of activities. It has established itself as a company with a growing national and international reputation, performing, learning and celebrating music through intimate connections with artists, audiences and communities.  In 2020 we are celebrating our 25th anniversary of music-making as an ensemble.
