For our final feast on the shore, under sky full of stars, join passionate real food advocate, author and chef Brenda Fawdon of Picnic Real Food Bar for a dining experience inspired by the sea.

Featuring locally sourced organic and seasonal produce direct from the growers of the Scenic Rim and Lockyer Valley, married with locally line-caught, seasonal and sustainable seafood, all dishes are gluten-free with vegan options available. Delicious and deeply nourishing, the menu is awash with the wintry hues of sunset on the Coast – purple, pink, gold and red – and pays homage to our community’s connection to place.

Mackerel and beetroot ‘nduja’ with seed chips and currant and capers pickle (GF, vegan option)

Wild rice crusted pink snapper, lemon soy mayo, pastel cauliflower, parsnip chips and finger lime (GF, vegan option)

Rhubarb galette, poached rose quince, saffron almond custard, rhubarb ‘chips’ (GF vegan)

All dishes are gluten-free with vegan options available. Please advise if you are vegan.

Please note that due to the nature of the event, FEAST WITH US – From The Sea is unable to change its menu items to accommodate specific dietary requirements. Drinks will be available to purchase at the bar. Group bookings may not be seated together.

About the artist

Passionate real food advocate Brenda Fawdon is a chef, author, food educator, presenter, recipe developer, and food and wine tour leader. She is the co-founder and co-owner of the recently opened North Stores and Picnic Real Food Bar on Tamborine Mountain in the Gold Coast hinterland, and a food ambassador for the Scenic Rim region in South East Queensland.

Brenda co-authored Eat Local — Food, Farming and Conversation in the Scenic Rim Volume 1 (2016) and Volume 2 (2018) with Christine Sharp, published by the Scenic Rim Regional Council. Her first cookbook, Wholehearted Food, was published by UQP in 2013, and she was a contributing author to QAGOMA’s award-winning book, Harvest, published in 2014.

Brenda was a restaurateur and chef for over thirty years, and co-founded award-winning restaurant, catering business and cooking school Mondo Organics in Brisbane in 2000, which she later sold in 2015. In 2014 and 2017 Brenda and business partner Sonja Drexler led food and wine tours to Italy with UK company Tastes of Italy. In 2018 Brenda and Sonja founded and grew Real Food Farm Gate, a farm-gate-to-farmers’-market business, which they then sold to a local farming family in 2021.
