A living room sits in mid-air, seven metres above the ground. It is completely white. Two cleaners in white uniforms and with a kit of cleaning apparatus, inspect the room. There is nothing more important to them than maintaining the white room’s perfect whiteness.
On the ground below sits a giant slingshot. Beside the slingshot, a large collection of mud-filled balloons. Let the grubby games begin.
Fights, meltdowns, existential crisis, who knows what will unfold and how The Cleaners will attempt to rectify the situation, or what secrets they will uncover in the process.
Straight from its premiere at Splendour in the Grass 2018, this is a durational performance installation by multi-award-winning contemporary performance makers, Shock Therapy Productions.
Through physical theatre and performance, Shock Therapy tells meaningful, thought-provoking, dynamic and entertaining stories, which celebrate the confronting and cathartic nature of performance.
Let’s get down and get dirty with The Cleaners.
