THE BERYLS
Presented by BLEACH*
Backcomb that big hair, glue on the giant lashes and prepare to snatch that crown!
Your hosts Victoria Beauvoir and Roger Seahorse are on a mission to bring children’s beauty pageants to every Australian town and Gold Coast – it’s your turn. Award-winning comedy duo The Beryls bring their interactive, unhinged, cracking character comedy to BLEACH*. The Pageant is a satirical and darkly funny cabaret set at a children’s beauty pageant that goes terribly wrong. Featuring physical comedy and original music, The Pageant casts the audience as the contestants and pushy showbiz parents in this surprising and hilarious hour.
The Beryls are Patrick Dywer and Laura Trenerry. They have toured their debut show The Pageant around Australia, winning the Pick of the Fringe Award at Adelaide Fringe in 2023. Their second show Cattle Call recently played at the Malthouse Theatre to rave reviews. They are quickly making a name for themselves as some of Australia's most exciting character and drag comedians.
The event is a cabaret-style work and includes music, dialogue and some visual elements.
A Quiet Zone will be available at the Broadbeach Hub for those needing a quiet and sensory friendly space away from the hustle and bustle of the festival garden.
