Transport yourself to the rose-hued dirt of the outback with Red Desert Dream, the first instalment of Selve’s visual album.
The Gold Coast-based band, led by Jabirr Jabirr musician Loki Liddle and Reece Bowden (Anaiwan), Selve Cinema is an immersive cinematic performance work that features 6-piece rock band Selve performing their notoriously high energy show to screen content written + directed by Alethea Beetson inside HOTA’s Cinema 2. Combining visuals from Red Desert Dream, Selve x Alethea’s recent visual album, and brand new music + visual content made for the show, Selve Cinema is a sensory overload that combines the vision of writer/director Alethea Beetson with the narrative songwriting of Selve in a feat of collaborative First Nations storytelling that defies genre and transcends silos. Bliss out to their beats and discover why this group has been impressing audiences at festivals across the country.

Selve are an alternative rock band led by Loki Liddle (Jabirr Jabirr) and Reece Bowden(Anaiwan), who are known for dazzling audiences at their live shows at Woodford Folk Festival, BLAK DAY OUT, Springtime, Brisbane Festival, BIGSOUND and SXSW Sydney. In 2023 Selve are grounded, electric and ready to match their renowned performance reputation with the launch of their debut album Red Desert Dream.
This event contains both visual and audio content, in the form of rock music and an accompanying film. The performance will be Auslan interpreted and audio described.
AUDIO DESCRIBED PERFORMANCE
Audiences will be able to access the audio description for the performance using their own smartphone or tablet device and headphones. This may require the download of a specific app, such as Zoom or similar.

AUSLAN INTERPRETED PERFORMANCE
Audience members wishing to view the interpreter should purchase an 'Auslan viewing' ticket via the Book Now button.

Tickets to this performance are general admission tickets. Auslan viewing area seats will be reserved and the audience member should let the staff know on arrival that they purchased an Auslan viewing ticket.
